Mission Statement
Our mission is to raise awareness and support for animal rescues by sharing Kayla’s story and helping animals in need find safety, care, and loving homes.
About Kayla
Kayla came into my life through a moment of unexpected serendipity. After losing two beloved dogs only months apart, I didn’t feel ready to open my heart to another dog just yet. I had gone to the Humane Society that day intending to inquire about adopting a bunny instead.
But fate had other plans.
As I sat filling out an application, a black and white dog walked through the door that immediately caught my attention. She looked strikingly similar to a dog I had loved years earlier, and the moment I saw her, I felt something shift. I knew she was meant to be part of my life.
That dog was Kayla.
Since that day, Kayla has brought incredible joy, companionship, and adventure into my life. She is curious, energetic, affectionate, and always eager to explore the world around her. Whether she is learning new skills through training, enjoying the outdoors, or simply resting beside me, Kayla reminds me daily how special the bond between people and animals truly is.
The Dogs Who Inspired This Journey
My love for rescue animals did not begin with Kayla. Throughout my life, many of the dogs who have shared my home and my heart came from rescues or animal shelters. Each one brought their own personality, challenges, and unforgettable moments.
With the exception of my pug, every dog I have welcomed into my life was adopted through a rescue or shelter. These animals, often coming from uncertain beginnings, showed me firsthand how resilient, loyal, and loving rescue animals can be when given a second chance.
They shaped my appreciation for the work that animal rescues do every day and inspired a deep respect for the people who dedicate their time and resources to helping animals in need.
Kayla carries that legacy forward.
About KaylaK9Connection
KaylaK9Connection🐾 was created to turn that lifelong connection with rescue animals into something meaningful for animals who are still waiting for their second chance.
Inspired by Kayla and by the many rescue dogs who have been part of my life, this initiative supports and raises awareness for animal rescues that work tirelessly to care for vulnerable animals and help them find loving homes.
Through KaylaK9Connection🐾, we aim to shine a light on the incredible work being done by rescue organizations across Canada and encourage compassion, support, and advocacy for animals who deserve safety, care, and a loving home.
A minimum of 80% of funds raised through this initiative are donated to registered animal rescue organizations. Up to 20% supports the ongoing operation of the initiative, including Kayla’s training and wellbeing, educational outreach, and the efforts required to continue raising awareness and support for animal rescues.
This initiative is rooted in a simple belief: when people and animals connect, wonderful things can happen.
Kayla may have been the dog who inspired this project, but the hope is that through KaylaK9Connection🐾 we can help change the lives of many more animals still waiting for their chance to be loved.
Contributions to KaylaK9Connection🐾
KaylaK9Connection🐾 is a community initiative created by Danielle Dusome and is separate from dental hygiene services provided by Dusome Dental Hygiene. Contributions to the initiative are voluntary and are not eligible for charitable tax receipts. Dusome Dental Hygiene commits to donating a minimum of 80% of funds raised to registered animal rescue organizations, with up to 20% supporting the operation of the initiative, including outreach, administration, and Kayla’s training, care, and wellbeing as the initiative ambassador. Contributions have no influence on the provision or availability of dental hygiene services.
